Important Information for Disaster (Typhoon)

Rules and Regulations for Students

Classes and End of Term Examinations in Case of Typhoon, Disruption of Transportation, etc.

1.Suspension of Public Transportation

The classes (and end of term examinations) are cancelled if any of the following situations occurs.

  1. JR West (Kobe Line) is stopped for accidents or other reasons; or
  2. Hankyu Railways (Kobe Line) and Hanshin Railways are both stopped for accident or other reasons; or
  3. Kobe City Buses #16 and #36 are both stopped for accidents or other reasons.

In the following cases, however, the classes will be held in the following manner.

  1. If, by 6:00 a.m., the transportation service is resumed, the normal class schedule will start from the first class in the morning.
  2. If, by 10:00 a.m., the transportation service is resumed, the normal class schedule will start from the third class in the afternoon.
  3. If, by 15:00 (3:00 p.m.), the transportation service is resumed, the normal class schedule will start from the sixth class of the day.
2.Weather Warning Issued
  1. Target Area of Weather Warning
    In Kobe City
    When Kobe City is included the area of the weather warning, the following manner will be applied.
  2. Type of Weather Warning
    The classes (and end of term examinations) are cancelled if the weather warning (Thunderstorm, Snow Storm or Storm) or the Emergency warning are issued in Kobe City.
  3. Lifting of Weather Warnings The classes will be held in the following manner.
  1. If, by 6:00 a.m., the weather warning is lifted, the normal class schedule will start from the first class in the morning.
  2. If, by 10:00 a.m., the weather warning is lifted, the normal class schedule will start from the third class in the afternoon.
  3. If, by 15:00 (3:00 p.m.), the weather warning is lifted, the normal class schedule will start from the sixth class of the day.

※Note

  1. Decisions based on the weather warnings are made according to the warnings issued by the Kobe Local Meteorological Office.
  2. Updates can be found on TV or radio. Students should check these sources to learn if a severe weather warning has been lifted.
  3. Instructions concerning the cancelled classes will be given separately.

Notices

Except for extraordinary cases, all communications are made by notices posted on the bulletin board, which is located on the 1st floor of the building of the GSICS. Please pay attention to this bulletin board because every kind of notice including, but not limited to, calls, announcements, notifications, information for scholarships, and invitations for part-time jobs are posted there.
