International Institutions, Global Governance, Forced Migration Studies, Human Rights and Humanitarianism
I study International Relations (IR), with a particular focus on global governance and international institutions with the cases of humanitarian assistance, development, and environmental protection. My current research aims at revealing what kinds of coordination mechanisms an international organization utilizes to mobilize other actors, such as states, NGOs, or business, and cooperate with each other for the purpose of solving various global issues.

Prospective students aspiring to join the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies (GSICS) likely possess an interest in "resolving" current global issues. However, rather than immediately seeking solutions, it is imperative to first elucidate (1) the "structure and background" of the global issue, and (2) the "causes" underlying the emergence of that issue. Without these foundational understandings, achieving a comprehensive resolution of the issue must be challenging. Approaches of Political Science, including International Relations, are dedicated to addressing these above (1) and (2). Why don't you tackle these challenges through your graduate school life? Furthermore, in my seminars, we endeavor to cultivate both the proficiency in utilizing English and the capacity to articulate arguments logically through discussions with international students.
