I have heard a story about Amartya Sen when he was a college student, feeling some disillusionment with economics and feeling that it was not very useful for tackling India's real world problems. His professor gave him advice that went: It is dangerous to get too much involved in reality. Reality sometimes causes one to be confused and to make big mistakes. It would be very good for you, I think, to suppress your passion and study calmly for a while, say, in the two year period of master's course.
