GSICS Library

GSICS Library is located on the 5th floor of GSICS Building. We provide a wide range of books, journals, master's theses and doctoral dissertations and textbooks for classes mainly to graduate students and faculty of GSICS to promote their education and assist their research.

Opening Hours

The GSICS Library is open from 10:30 to 11:45 and 12:45 to 15:00 during the weekdays.


Closing Days

It is closed on Tuesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, New Year holidays


GSICS Library Calendar


Eligible User

Kobe University faculty (including part-time faculty) and graduate students, as well as other students who are enrolled in classes held by the GSICS.


Terms of Use

  • Please present your student ID or other forms of identification when entering the GSICS Library.
  • After entering the room, please write your name and the purpose of use on the “Visitor Card”
  • With the exception of master's theses, doctoral dissertations, and some other materials, books in the library can be temporarily checked out on the same day and only on campus after filling out the Library Card. Designated textbooks and other materials may be checked out for 2 months.
  • Master's theses and doctoral dissertations can be viewed and photocopied (partly not allowed) only in the GSICS Library. If you wish to make photocopies of any material of the GSICS Library, please indicate such material to the staff before photocopying.
  • The loan period may be extended if the materials have not been reserved by anyone else.

Attention to the Use of GSICS Library

  • Notification of changes in opening hours will be posted on this website in advance or, posted at the entrance of the GSICS Library in an emergency.
  • All you can bring in is your ID card, your copy card, writing materials, laptops, tablet devices, and electronic dictionaries. All other items should be placed in the locker in front of the GSICS Library.
  • Please note that some master's theses are not available for viewing or copying.
  • For doctoral dissertations, GSICS Library stores the doctoral dissertations up to the completion of in March 2013 only. For more information, please check the Kobe University Library website.
  • Anyone who loses or damages a document, material, and/or facility of GSICS Library must
  • compensate the amount equivalent to the actual in question or expense.

(For use by non-GSICS students)

  • Non-GSICS students may need a letter of request from their academic adviser in order to view and copy materials.
  • Photocopiers in the GSICS Library are available only for GSICS students; non-GSICS students who wish to photocopy materials should inquire with the staff.
