We offer a curriculum specialized in disaster risk reduction in collaboration with the Graduate Schools of Engineering (e.g. Post Disaster Recovery Planning) and others to investigate the issues of DRR from multiple perspectives. We offer several lectures, seminars, and fieldwork in disaster-stricken areas to provide a comprehensive understanding of DRR. Additionally, it encourages students to gain an international perspective through educational collaborations with DRR research institutions (e.g., the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and United Nations organizations) and universities in disaster-affected areas (e.g., Tohoku University in Japan and Syiah Kuala University in Indonesia).
We offer courses on “Careers in International Organizations,” “Law of the International Civil Service,” and “International Organization Management” taught by practitioners from international organizations to support students who wish to work for international organizations. In addition, we hold career seminars to help students acquire the knowledge they need to apply for jobs at international organizations, including how to write CVs and cover letters. We also support students who wish to participate in internships at international organizations (We recognize internships that meet our requirements as credits). Starting in 2024, we will be able to more strongly support students who wish to work for international organizations through the introduction of a new program, the Global Network Program.
This is a high-quality joint educational program to foster “risk management specialists” by five universities, with Kobe University, Fudan University (People’s Republic of China), Korea University (South Korea), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), and the National University of Laos (Lao People’s Democratic Republic). We offer double degree programs, exchange programs, and short-term study programs and online joint course “Risk Management” in English, which aims to provide practical content by inviting risk management practitioners as lectures. Additionally, we regularly hold risk management seminars, inviting experts to discuss various issues. Moreover, we hold annual international symposium with our partner universities, providing chance to present students’ research and exchange views.
The Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies and the Graduate School of Intercultural Studies will collaborate with overseas universities, international organizations, and government organizations in developing countries. Together, they will conduct team-based education and provide research guidance for doctoral students, aiming to nurture highly skilled human resources for value co-creation. These graduates will be prepared to work on the frontlines of international cooperation. The program focuses on developing three specific career paths: 1) Researchers with world-class research skills. 2) International civil servants with advanced practical skills. 3) Senior government officials in developing countries with world-class policy-making skills.
