研究課題

朝鮮半島における具体的な歴史的経験を通じて、私達の世界において文化やイデオロギーがどのような役割を果たしているのか、そしてそれは各国の政治にどのような役割を果たしたのか、について関心を持っています。近年は、研究対象となる時代と場所を、主として1980 年代以降の韓国に移し、その民主主義やナショナリズムがどのように変化しているのかを、明らかにすべく努めています。

メッセージ

地域研究は、単に特定の地域にかかわる様々な事実を知るのみならず、それらの事実を通じて、研究対象である社会がどのようにして成立し、変化しているかを考える学問です。そしてだからこそ、その視点は比較の対象となる地域や時代、さらには研究者個々人の経験によって異なってきます。自分がどうしてその地域に関心を持つようになったのか、そのきっかけは何であったのか、そしてその関心をどうすれば他の人と共有できるかを考えながら、地域と向き合ってもらえれば、きっと自分が本当にやりたい「地域研究」が何かが見つかるだろうと思います。

Message

Area studies is a discipline that not only seeks to learn about various facts in a particular region, but also to consider how the society under study came to be and how it is changing. Therefore, the perspective will differ depending on the region or time period being compared, as well as the individual researcher's own experience. If you can confront the region while thinking about why you became interested in it, what triggered that interest, and how you can share that interest with others, I think you will surely find what you really want to do in area studies.
